No one will forget your big day

There’s a reason jaws drop when our Routemaster turns the corner. Iconic, unmistakable, and utterly British — a vintage double decker at your wedding is the kind of detail guests talk about for years. It’s not just transport. It’s the moment that sets your day apart.

One of Only 15 Left in the World

RMC1462 isn’t just any Routemaster. Of the 68 RMC coaches ever built — the most luxurious of the Routemaster family, with deeper seats, extra legroom and air suspension — it’s believed only around 15 still exist worldwide. Built in 1962, our bus has lived through decades of London history. Having it at your wedding isn’t just a nice touch. It’s genuinely rare.

Photos You’ll Love

From the open rear platform to the polished wooden interior, every inch of the bus is a photographer’s dream. Whether it’s a candid of your guests on the upper deck or a classic shot of the two of you framed by that iconic red bodywork — your album will have something no other wedding can offer.

Vintage Looks, Modern Comforts

Don’t let the vintage looks fool you. Hidden discreetly throughout the bus are USB charging points on both decks, a sound system so you can bring your own playlist, and video screens where you can run a slideshow or wedding video for your guests. The classic experience, thoughtfully brought up to date.

15 Years of experience

With over 15 years of weddings, proms and celebrations across Berkshire and beyond, we know how much every detail matters on the day. From your first enquiry to the final drop-off, you’ll deal with people who genuinely care — professional, punctual, and proud of what they do.

FAQs

Do you hire buses at night?2026-04-27T12:30:34+01:00

Yes — we are one of the few heritage operators who offer late-night returns. Additional  T&Cs apply, which we’ll discuss with you.

Do you hire buses outside your local area?2026-04-27T12:30:23+01:00

Yes — we can travel to places such as Bath, Bristol, Bournemouth, the South Coast, the  Cotswolds and central London. Longer distances may cost more, as our heritage buses travel  at a gentler pace.

Where do you operate?2026-04-27T12:30:12+01:00

We regularly serve Berkshire, Oxfordshire, Hampshire and Surrey, and we’re happy to  travel further afield on request.

Do you check the route beforehand?2026-04-27T12:30:02+01:00

We always try to survey routes in advance, although this isn’t guaranteed. Our drivers have  excellent local knowledge and are trained to assess routes for low bridges, narrow lanes and  overhanging branches. If you think your route may be tricky, please let us know.

Are your buses available all year round?2026-04-27T12:29:50+01:00

Yes — our fleet operates throughout the year.

Can we decorate the bus?2026-04-27T12:26:57+01:00

We provide white ribbon and a floral bouquet for the front of the vehicle. If you have  special requests, just give us a call.

Can you display a personal message on the bus?2026-04-27T12:26:43+01:00

Yes — we can create a bespoke destination blind for the front of the bus. Unlike thin paper  versions used elsewhere, ours are professionally printed on durable plastic paper and make a  wonderful keepsake. Cost: £50 + VAT.

Do you have storage for wheelchairs or buggies?2026-04-27T12:21:22+01:00

We have very limited storage — space for one wheelchair or up to two, fold-down buggies without reducing seating. If you need more space, we can accommodate this by using  passenger seats. Please let us know in advance so we can plan accordingly.

Can a child stay in their pram while the bus is moving?2026-04-27T12:22:31+01:00

No. Pushchairs, prams and wheelchairs cannot be used as seats on board, and aisles must  always remain clear.

Do your vehicles have disabled, wheelchair or buggy access?2026-04-27T12:20:36+01:00

Unfortunately, not. These heritage vehicles were built long before accessibility standards  existed, and their design cannot be modified. Passengers must be able to board and alight  independently.

Do the buses have seatbelts?2026-04-27T12:20:26+01:00

No. Like modern city buses, vintage vehicles were not fitted with seatbelts.

Do you have open-top buses?2026-04-27T12:20:16+01:00

Yes — our 1961 open-top bus Sir Martin Frobisher is one of only nine ever built for Devon  General. They were affectionately known as the “Sea Dog Class,” each named after a famous  seafarer.

Can you provide more than one heritage bus?2026-04-27T12:19:45+01:00

Absolutely. We have three buses in our own fleet and work closely with trusted partners who  maintain their vehicles to the same high standard. If you need multiple buses, we can arrange  that.

Do you have a London Routemaster?2026-04-27T12:19:20+01:00

Yes — and they’re the pride of our fleet. Beautifully restored, they feature the authentic look  and feel of the 1960s London Transport era.

What colour are your classic buses?2026-04-27T12:18:34+01:00

Our Routemasters are painted in traditional London Transport Red. Our Devon General  open-top bus is in its original cream with a red band. You can see them all in the Our Buses section of our website.

How many passengers can we take?2026-04-18T18:20:46+01:00

Our Routemaster buses seat 64 or 57 passengers, and our white open-top bus seats 72. Every  passenger must have a seat by law. If your group is larger than the seating capacity, we can  arrange an additional vintage bus or run a second trip.
